How to Apply and Remove Press-On Nails: Sticker Tabs, Nail Glue, & UV Gel
At Freedom Beauty, we want your press-on nails experience to be easy, long-lasting, and hassle-free. Here's a complete guide on how to apply and remove our press-on nails using sticker tabs, nail glue, and UV gel.
1. Applying Press-On Nails with Sticker Tabs
Sticker tabs are an easy, no-mess way to apply your press-on nails, offering a quick and temporary solution for a flawless look.
What You’ll Need:
- Press-on nails
- Sticker adhesive tabs (included with your press-on nail set)
- A nail buffer
- A nail file
Step-by-Step Instructions to Apply:
- Prep Your Natural Nails: Clean your natural nails by removing any polish, oils, and dirt. Gently buff the surface of your nails to ensure the adhesive sticks better.
- Select the Right Press-On Nails: Choose the press-on nails that fit your natural nails perfectly. Make sure each press-on nail aligns with the correct finger.
-
Apply the Sticker Tabs:
- Peel off the adhesive tab from its backing and place it onto the back of the press-on nail. Press the tab down firmly to ensure it sticks.
- Repeat this for all nails you plan to apply.
-
Attach the Press-On Nails: Peel off the protective backing of the adhesive tab and align the press-on nail with your natural nail.
- Press down on the press-on nail for about 10-15 seconds to ensure it adheres well.
- Final Touches: File and shape the press-on nails if needed. You’re all set for a perfect, quick manicure!
How to Remove:
- Gently Lift the Edges: Start by gently lifting the edges of the press-on nail. You can use a cuticle pusher or an orangewood stick to gently separate the nail from your natural nail.
- Peel Off Slowly: Carefully peel the press-on nail off, starting from the sides and working your way to the center. Avoid pulling too quickly to prevent any damage to your natural nails.
- Clean Up: If there’s any adhesive left on your nails, use a cotton pad with a bit of nail polish remover to clean it off.
Tip: Sticker tabs are ideal for temporary wear (up to 1-2 days). If you need to reuse the press-on nails, carefully remove the tabs and store the nails in a safe place for future use.
2. Applying Press-On Nails with Nail Glue
Nail glue provides a stronger, more secure bond, making it perfect for longer-lasting wear.
What You’ll Need:
- Press-on nails
- Nail glue (included with your press-on nail set)
- A nail buffer
- A nail file
- A cuticle pusher (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions to Apply:
- Prep Your Natural Nails: Clean your nails and remove any nail polish or oils. Use a nail buffer to gently buff the surface of your nails for better adhesion.
- Select the Right Press-On Nails: Match each press-on nail to your natural nails. Lay them out to ensure they fit correctly.
-
Apply Nail Glue:
- Apply a thin layer of nail glue to the back of the press-on nail.
- You can also apply a small amount of glue to your natural nail (if you prefer).
- Attach the Press-On Nails: Position the press-on nail carefully over your natural nail. Once aligned, press it down firmly and hold for 10-15 seconds to allow the glue to set.
- Final Touches: After applying all nails, use a nail file to shape the press-on nails if needed. Allow the glue to dry fully before touching anything to ensure a strong bond.
How to Remove:
- Soak in Warm Soapy Water: Fill a bowl with warm soapy water and soak your nails for about 10-15 minutes to soften the glue.
- Gently Lift the Nails: Once the glue has softened, use a cuticle pusher or an orangewood stick to gently lift the press-on nails starting from the edges.
- Peel Off Slowly: Carefully peel the press-on nail off, avoiding any force to prevent damage to your natural nails.
- Remove Glue Residue: If any glue residue is left on your natural nails, gently rub it off with a cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover.
Tip: Nail glue holds for up to a week or more. For a longer-lasting manicure, be sure to avoid excessive contact with water and harsh chemicals.
3. Applying Press-On Nails with UV Gel
For a professional-grade, long-lasting hold, UV gel is an excellent option. This method provides the strongest bond and can last for up to 2-3 weeks.
What You’ll Need:
- Press-on nails
- UV gel (clear or builder gel)
- UV or LED lamp
- A nail buffer
- A nail file
- A cuticle pusher (optional)
- Wipe-off solution (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions to Apply:
- Prep Your Natural Nails: Clean your nails thoroughly and remove any polish or oils. Buff the surface of your nails to allow the gel to bond better.
- Select the Right Press-On Nails: Choose the press-on nails that fit each of your natural nails.
-
Apply UV Gel:
- Apply a thin layer of UV gel to the back of the press-on nail.
- You can also apply a layer of gel directly onto your natural nail.
- Attach the Press-On Nails: Carefully align the press-on nail with your natural nail. Once positioned, press the press-on nail down gently to ensure it adheres.
- Cure Under the UV/LED Lamp: Place your nails under a UV or LED lamp and cure for 60-90 seconds, depending on your lamp’s specifications. This will harden the gel and create a strong bond.
- Final Touches: Once the nails are fully cured, file and shape the press-on nails if needed. Use a wipe-off solution to remove any sticky residue left from the gel.
How to Remove:
- Soak in Acetone: Use an acetone nail polish remover to soak a cotton ball, and place it on top of the press-on nail. Wrap your fingers in aluminum foil or use a clip to hold the cotton in place.
- Wait for 10-15 Minutes: Let the acetone soak in and soften the gel. After about 10-15 minutes, check to see if the press-on nails are lifting.
- Gently Lift the Nails: Once the gel has softened, use a cuticle pusher or orangewood stick to gently lift the press-on nails off.
- Buff and Clean: If there’s any leftover gel or residue on your natural nails, use a buffer to smooth out the surface and clean with nail polish remover.
Tip: UV gel offers the longest-lasting hold (up to 3 weeks or more). Be careful when removing not to damage your natural nails by being gentle with the process.
